

BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer Wendt Bordy graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry in 1982. She earned her Juris Doctor with Honors from the University of Montana Law School in 1985.
Jennifer clerked for state district court judge Robert Holmstrom in Billings, Montana, from August 1985 until August 1986. She then joined the Gallatin County Attorney’s Office as a deputy until 1991. She prosecuted felonies, misdemeanors, youth court cases, abuse and neglect cases, and involuntary commitments. She did the County’s civil work the last year-and-a-half of her government employment, advising the Gallatin County Commissioners and other county officials on issues involving land use planning, zoning and other civil matters.
At the end of 1991, Jennifer went into private practice. Criminal defense has always been an area of emphasis for her, but she also does family law and civil litigation. In 2003 Jennifer returned briefly to the public sector to open the first public defender’s office in Gallatin County.
Jennifer is admitted to practice law in Montana, the United States District Court for Montana, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, National Association of Counsel for Children and the Gallatin County Bar Association.
Since 1995, Jennifer has done a weekly radio show called Lawtalk which discusses various legal issues and information. Since 2003 Jennifer has also done a weekly afternoon radio show called Open Range which discusses political issues from the local to the national level. Both shows can be heard on KMMS AM 1450. Lawtalk is from 9:00am to 10:00am on Friday mornings, and Open Range airs from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Wednesdays.
